Voith to supply process line for Heinrich paper mill in Germany

German engineering firm Voith will supply process line paper machine 6 (PM6) for making corrugating medium and testliner to Schoellershammer paper mill, owned by Heinrich August Schoeller Söhne in Düren, Germany.

The new machine, with a capacity of 250,000t a year, will make packaging papers on a basis weight range of 80 to 120g/m². It will have a wire width of 6,300mm and a speed of 1,200m/min.

The PM6 is expected to come on stream at the end of 2016.

It is expected to implement a two-fold rise in the facility's current capacity, and provide an option of dealing with a larger share of papers with low basis weights.

The machine is capable of making short and long fiber stock from 100% recovered paper, with the help of DuoFormer Base with a MasterJet Pro G headbox having ModuleJet and a DuoCentri NipcoFlex press.

The dryer section has ProRelease+ and DuoStabilizers for a stable web pickup. The scope of delivery has a MasterReel winder for master reels with a 3.8m diameter.

Voith will supply entire automation and clothing package, along with the machine.

The Schoellershammer paper mill, established in 1784, makes around 230,000 metric tons of corrugated board base papers on a paper machine with a width of 5,000mm. It employs 229 people and posts annual sales worth €100m. The new addition is expected to generate employment for 85.

Voith caters to energy, oil and gas, paper, raw materials and transport and automotive sectors.

Recently, paper producer Parenco opted for German engineering firm Voith Paper to renovate its manufacturing unit at Renkum, Netherlands, and convert its paper machine 2 (PM2) to a packaging output line.
